Calling Database function in OBIEE 11g

Calling Database function in OBIEE 11g

Sometimes we need to call a database function to OBIEE to achieve different Business need.

In OBIEE 11g it is quite simple to call a Database Function using EVALUATE function.

Create a function in Oracle DataBase and use EVALUATE function as below syntax:

EVALUATE(‘dbfunction_name(%1,%2)’, parameter list)

In the above Syntax %1& %2 are number of parameters to be passed to the DataBase function. Parameters can be more than or less than 2 depending on the requirement. These can also be constant/hard coded values

Note : By default in OBIEE, support for the EVALUATE family of database functions is disabled. EVALUATE_SUPPORT_LEVEL parameter in NQSConfig.INI should be changed to enable support for the EVALUATE functions. See Oracle Fusion Middleware System Administrator's Guide for Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition for more information.

If EVALUATE_SUPPORT_LEVEL parameter not enabled below error can appear while using the Evaluate function on Analysis.
